Cambodia is perhaps most popularly known for the magnificent Angkor Wat temple complex in Siem Reap, but this Southeast Asian country holds so much more. Officially the Kingdom of Cambodia, it is populated by more than 15 million people that include minority groups such as hill tribes, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Chams. Thailand, Vietnam, and Laos are the countries that lie adjacent to Cambodia. Once a part of French Indochina, Cambodia is today a member of international groups including the United Nations and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Phnom Penh is the capital city, where the Royal Palace is located.
