The Finance Ministry supervises the holder of the federal licence. A draft reform published on 29 June 2026 would replace the single licence with open licensing and add a central exclusion register; the current licence ends on 30 September 2027.

A draft reform published on 29 June 2026 would replace the single licence with open licensing (DLA Piper). It was sent to the European Commission in August 2026 and has not been passed.
Can Austrian players get losses back from offshore casinos?
Austrian courts have treated contracts with unlicensed online casinos as void and ordered repayment of losses. Each claim goes through the civil courts, and collecting from a casino based abroad can be slow.
What should I check before joining a new casino that accepts players from Austria?
