Are online casinos legal in Canada?
Yes, when a province runs or licenses them under section 207 of the Criminal Code (Criminal Code, s. 207). Most provinces run their own site; Ontario and Alberta also license private operators.
When did Alberta open its online casino market?
On 13 July 2026. Operators register with the AGLC and sign on with the Alberta iGaming Corporation, and unregistered operators had to stop taking bets from that date (Blakes).
What is the gambling age in Canada?
It is set by each province: 19 in most, 18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec.
What should I check before joining a new casino that accepts players from Canada?
Read the casino's terms on Canada first, because a casino can change the countries it accepts. Then check the licence it names, its withdrawal limits and the wagering on the welcome offer.
