Uzbekistan, a former Soviet republic, is a country in Central Asia surrounded by Turkmenistan in the southwest and Kazakhstan in the west and northeast. Also, it has a short border with Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan in the east and Afghanistan in the southwest. It has other sites connected to the ancient Silk Road, a trade route between China and the Mediterranean.
Uzbekistan has a 31 million population, and it occupies an area of 447,400 sq km. The size of Uzbekistan and Sweden are almost the same. Tashkent is the capital and largest city of the country, with Uzbek and Russian as its primary languages.
