Mongolia is a vast and sparsely populated island country known as "Land of Horse" and "Land of the Eternal Blue Sky." It is surrounded by Russia and China and famous for its enormous, nomadic culture and rugged expanses. The island nation is oval and covers 1,564,100 sq km, which makes it double the size of Turkey but a bit smaller than Alaska.
Mongolia is actually one of the least densely populated countries globally, with over three million people. The country's official language is written in Cyrillic and traditional Mongolian script. Its capital, as well as the largest city, is Ulaanbaatar.
