Burundi is actually a tiny landlocked East African country with many great lakes. Rwanda is to the north of the country, and Tanzania is to the east. The Democratic Republic of the Congo is west of the country. Many beautiful forests, lakes, reserves, and mountains exist within its borders, and animals are a significant draw for tourists that visit the country.
Burundi is a densely populated country because of its small size. Most of the population survives on agriculture, and Burundi has not been without economic issues. The nation has been supported heavily by foreign aid but has recently attempted to decrease its reliance on this.
